HC: Publish gazette declaring coronavirus a contagious disease
Court to pass further orders on Thursday
The High Court today directed the health ministry to issue a gazette notification, as soon as possible, declaring coronavirus a contagious disease and including the virus on the list of communicable diseases.
The court fixed Thursday to pass further orders in this regard.
The bench of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir issued the directive following a hearing on Wednesday.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab had earlier filed a writ on behalf of the rights organization Law and Life Foundation.
Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal stood for the writ while Deputy Attorney General Debashis Bhattacharyya represented the state.
Secretaries of the law, health, foreign, and tourism, among others, were made respondents to the writ
