The Mujib Barsho, which began on Tuesday through the inauguration of the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman, will be celebrated through various programmes till March 17, 2021. As part of the Mujib Barsho, the government, ruling Bangladesh Awami League and various non-government and private organisations also have chalked out various programmes.
The government is going to construct 68,038 houses for poor villagers and 5,000 bridges in the remote areas across the country centring the celebration of the Mujib Barsho. Officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs said the process of the construction of all the houses and the bridges in the remote areas across the country will be completed before March 17 next year. Not only that all those 5,000 bridges will be inaugurated before March 17 in 2021 and 68,038 houses will also be handed over to the poor villagers, the sources confirmed.
Officials of the ministry said these projects have been taken on the occasion of the celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17 this year as well as the ‘Mujib Barsho’ starting on March 17. They also said that apart from those 68,038 houses and 5,000 bridges, a total of 200 forts will be constructed in the disaster prone areas and those forts will be named as ‘Mujib Fort’.
Sources said, centring the celebration of the ‘Mujib Barsho’ the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs has formed a committee led by its state minister Dr. Enamur Rahman. Besides, 23 separate committees have also been formed by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs to implement all those projects.
The ministry sources said, each of the houses for the poor villagers will cost at Tk 2,99,860. Dr Enamur Rahman, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Affairs, said, “Centring the celebration of the Mujib Barshho, a poor family in each of the 68,038 villages across the country will get a house at a free of cost. Construction of all the houses will be completed before the month of March in 2021.”
“The total cost of the project has been fixed at Tk 40,18,74,680,” the state minister said and continued as saying that another project for the construction of more 50,000 houses has also been taken. Ministry sources also said that as part of the celebration of the ‘Mujib Barsho’, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs has also taken many other projects.
Among them, a project named ‘Parichchhanna Gram, Parichchhanna Shor’ has been taken for cleaning all the roads, drains and bazars. As many as 9,67,000 cleaners will be engaged for the purposes. The ruling Bangladesh Awami League and the 14-party alliance have chalked out elaborate programmes.
As part of the programmes, they will hold rallies across the country all over the month of March with a view to launching a social movement against repression on women and children. The 14-party alliance coordinator, Mohammad Nasim said, “Women and children are being repressed, harassed and tortured in many ways across the country. Therefore, rallies against the repression on women and children will be held across the country to create social awareness and social movement.”
“As the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had been struggling all over his life for the truth and justice, centring his birth centenary, the Mujib Barsho will also have to do the same things”, said Mohammad Nasim. Centring the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the National Bank Limited will also celebrate the Mujib Year through year-long programmes. In celebration of Mujib Year, Director & EC Chairperson of the Bank Mrs. Parveen Haque Sikder MP, MD of the Bank C.M. Ahmed, AMDs M.A. Wadud & ASM Bulbul, DMD Ekramul Haque, Divisional Heads and a hundreds of officials from Head Office held a human chain on Wednesday.
Parveen Haque Sikder MP, along with others also cut a cake at the boardroom of the bank. At the same time, all 209 branches, 14 sub-branches and 5 regional offices of the bank celebrated the occasion.
